RACE MISSION

To raise money for the benefit of the James Madison High School marching band, and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.

The “Pride of Vienna,” James Madison High School’s marching band has been performing for over 30 years and is recognized as one of the top programs in the country.  This is a fantastic program for the growth and development of our area youth, teaching them discipline, hard work, and the value of team work.

A portion of the proceeds also goes to support the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.  In fact, the start/finish line for the race is on Cherry Street, adjacent to the fire house.

5K DEMOGRAPHICS

Last year, over 900 area runners registered for this race.  The 5K race is the most popular distance in the country for runners.  The average demographics for participants in 5K races are:

•   50% male
•   50% female
•   12% age 19 and under
•   48% between ages 19 and 40
•   39% over age 40
